The timing of this season tells me it should be fall yet it does not feel like fall outside here. Normally, my outside porches would have already been decked out in pumpkins for weeks but if I would have done that according to the “timing” of fall this year, they would have rotted if so.
One of my favorite times of the day is sunset, known as the golden hour. It’s when the most beautiful golden hue covers our farmhouse. To me, it’s like everything turns to an antique look and makes our farmhouse look even more like it’s been here for a hundred years. Even though it’s a new build. For a minute, in the golden hour, time feels as though it’s standing still. And when you seize the moment to take it all in, a peaceful feeling will fill your soul. We could all use more peace during these uncertain times that we are all living in, right?
Deep inside my soul I could feel a yearning for a change of pace, a pause, a much needed break. It wasn’t until I was forced into this pause by the national shutdown of our country that I realized how much my soul was longing just to find a sabbath of rest.
It’s no secret that I adore everything plants but sometimes real plants can’t fit every spot that I would prefer, like up high. So, I made it a mission to hunt for the best faux plants and created this amazing roundup to share with you. Because let’s be real, real plants aren’t for everyone or every lifestyle, they take a good amount of attention and lots of natural light, but when you have to go faux it should look really good!!
Making a home feel collected and curated evolves with time.
It’s not an overnight success.
I’m still creating our home one piece and one story at a time.

Instead of one big arrangement already put together, you can make multiple arrangements to spread around your home...I’ll show you. Also, the benefit alone in creating with flowers is an inexpensive therapeutic process that I know you would enjoy. Who doesn’t love flowers!!!
Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Winter 2020
Happy New Year 2020, I’m hear for it! Yet, even though we have a new year, we really get a fresh new start EVERY SINGLE day and to me that brings me great joy to live with intention!
If you love vintage as much as I do, then the best way you mix the old with the new is to find new things that have the look and nostalgia of the past.
Bringing the nostalgia of yesteryear through a simple DIY of Christmas cheer.
Some of my favorite things about bringing Christmas cheer to any space are the hanging of the greens and creating the aroma of Christmas.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful but the aisles of Target are so delightful! Let’s grab a hot cocoa and go. See the best of this years Christmas favorites before it starts to snow.
Tis the season for sitting next to the fire with a cozy blanket while roasting marshmallows, making s’mores and sipping hot chocolate! It’s one of my favorite things to do, how about you? Roasting marshmallows brings back a nostalgic feeling and a moment of slowing down to enjoy the simple beauty around me.
I’m so glad you are here! Welcome to Whitetail Farmhouse! I invite you to please take a peek around, there is so much to explore. It already feels like home to me and I am just beginning. Even though I’ve already poured so much of my heart and vision into creating this space.
In my last post, I showed you some tips on how to transition your decor in your kitchen. So, I thought I would share some of my favorite kitchen pieces with you today.
We finally had our first cool front last week here in Texas. It usually takes a while for it to feel like autumn in the south so I start adding fall touches long before the weather cues in.
It’s no secret that my laundry room and mudroom is one of my favorite places to be. Being intentional in this space has really created an inspiring, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to stay and linger and maybe even fold some laundry! Of course, we all do lots of laundry in here!!
Whether you call it a laundry room, utility room or mudroom, I believe they are making a statement in design. People are starting to consider them in the design process. Just cruise through Pinterest while doing a search for “laundry rooms” and you will find inspiration at every turn.
Taking a look back at our award, Remodelista 2018 Considered Design Awards Best Kitchen Organization, one year later, in hopes to provide you with a little more inspiration and resource of our kitchen. (I’ll share the resources at the bottom of this post.)
Summertime blue, not to confuse it with summertime “blues,” because summertime is anything but “blues” to me. Summer to me is a long season of rest and a time of recharging. It’s like every day could be a Sunday if you allow the quiet space into your schedule. The low key, longer filled days of relaxing creates such a room for rest.
